The Darkness Concept and Discussion

The Darkness was a project that barely made it to conception. I was in a stage of my artistry where I was seeking perfection in everything I did and this came at my detriment. I only wanted to release music that I perceived would be "good enough" for the world, good enough to catch fire and ride the trend waves, but I also felt deep down that I was leading myself astray. One wednesday night, at 2am, I couldn't sleep - anxiety filled my body knowing I had to be up in a few hours for work but nevermind that. I laid down and tried to relax my body with some deep breathing and within an instant this entire project flew into my mind - the title, the order of unreleased demos I had already recorded and even the album cover itself. All laid bare for me to pick up. I heeded this signal and decided I would release the Darkness in 1 week on my birthday. This was the point I realized, my art isn't always about me - even as a small undiscovered artist. Someone in the world needs what God is putting in my heart to create. So with that, The Darkness was released - flaws and alls. The imperfections were a perfect metaphor for the human experience. We always want to present ourselves nice, shiny and clean but life, as we all know, is far from it. Sometimes times are dark, real dark, but we show ourselves regardless and we show the world our vulnerability so that we can heal and one day walk again into the light.

Stay tuned for updates and new muzik
